Holidays

I can't believe Thanksgiving is one week from today! Where has the month of November gone? I am so excited for turkey and dressing. I think I have been craving it for about 2 weeks now. I also can't believe Christmas is just over a month away. I went ahead and took all of my fall decorations down since we won't be having Thanksgiving at our house this year and I have started putting my Christmas decorations up. I am just so excited to decorate for Christmas this year. I guess it is because in years past I have always been working so I never got to really enjoy all the little things that come along with Christmas because we were always so rushed. So this year I plan to enjoy all the decorating and baking Christmas goodies. I plan to go ahead and do most of my Christmas shopping this weekend. Every year I always say that I will have it done early but it never happens but this year I am sticking to it. I hope to finish up on last minute deals on black Friday and then get to enjoy this month of December without having to worry about shopping. We will see if I actually get it done!

Slacker

So, I guess I am not very good at this whole blog thing. I haven't blogged in a whole month! I guess I will just do an extremely long post to catch everyone up on what's been going on around here.
My last entry was before we went on our beach trip. We had a fabulous time at the beach. The first day we were there was beautiful and we enjoying going on the beach and swimming in the pool. That night we attempted to go and eat a Lulu's (attempted being the key word). Drew hadn't taken a nap that day and of course fell asleep in the car. Well when we got inside Lulu's it was so loud that he just couldn't take it. He cried and cried and cried, and he has never done that in a restaurant. Brady was also a bit crabby because the baby sitting behind us was eating mac & cheese and wouldn't give him any. :) So we ended up leaving and picked up a Burger King on the way home. Well the next day it was rainy and gloomy so we did some outlet mall shopping. That night we decided to beat all the crowds and went to the Original Oyster House at 5:00. Both boys did great and dinner was awesome! That is definitely my fav place to eat in Gulf Shores. Well the rest of the weekend was rainy too so we went to the outlets some more and just hung around the condo. Well had a great time and it was so nice to get away and relax a little.

September 18th was my birthday and we just kept it low key this year. We grilled some steaks with my parents and watched some Auburn football. WAR EAGLE!!!!!

Then on Oct. 11th we welcomed a new little member to the family. My cousin Rachael and her husband Ken had their little boy, Kenneth Jacob (Jake) Spivey. He was 6 lbs 15 oz and is absolutely beautiful!

And now for the past week I have been SICK! Me, the one who always washes her hands and uses hand sanitizer like it is going out of style. It started out like a sinus infection but progressively got worse. I finally went to the doctor and found out I had Pneumonia. I stayed quarantined in the bedroom for a few days and now I am finally starting to feel a little better. I just can't get my energy back, and I need it to keep up with two rowdy boys!

Well that's all I have for now but I promise to get better at this. I will add some new pictures from the last month as soon as I get them downloaded. Happy Hump Day!!!!!!

Beach Bound

I am so excited! We are heading to the beach on Thursday morning. We are going to Orange Beach and staying until Sunday. It will be so nice to get away and get to soak up some sunshine (if the weather permits). This will be our second beach trip this summer. We went in early May to Destin and had a great time. I can't wait for some seafood, sun, and outlet malls! Does anyone have any favorite places to eat in Orange Beach/Gulf Shores????

The cake was everywhere!

It only took 5 minutes for him to fall asleep in his new carseat.

The Big ONE

Well I haven't been very good at updating this blog but I promise I will get better. :)
August 22nd was Brady's first birthday. I can't believe a year has already gone by. He is getting too big too fast. We had him a party at the house and it went really well. The weather was beautiful so all of the bigger kids got to play outside in the water. Brady really enjoyed digging into his cake and he even managed to cram some of the icing up his nose! He was so cute! He also really enjoyed opening presents. His favorite toy had to be his John Deere ride on toy that he got from all the Bains, Spiveys and Barretts. A big thanks to everyone who came to the party and helped to celebrate Brady's first year.

Last Wednesday Brady woke up with a fever of 103. So off to the Dr. we went. There is so much stuff going around right now and I was just praying that he didn't have the flu. Well his flu test came back negative but his pediatrician still thought he had the classic flu symptoms. So she gave us a prescription for Tamiflu. But thank goodness we never needed it because the next day his fever was gone and he was back to normal. We are thinking he may of just had a little fever virus. While we were there she went ahead and did his one year check-up. (except for shots, he couldn't get those since he was running fever) He is still a big boy! He now weighs 23 lbs (50-65th percentile) and is 31.75 inches tall (90th percentile).

Here are some things Brady is doing now.

  • He is walking, better yet, running! He started walking right before he was 11 months and now he can get any where he wants to go.

  • He says Mama, Dada, Bye (and waves), calls for the kitty, says hey (or something similar), dances, imitates singing, plays peek-a-boo and babbles all the time.

  • He is drinking whole milk now and only eats table foods. His favorites are strawberries, bananas, yogurt, cheese, potatoes, sweet peas and he LOVES Nilla Wafers!

  • He is no longer breastfeeding. I weaned him at about 11 months and he has done very well with whole milk.

  • He loves to push his trucks on the floor and make "truck sounds"

  • He sleeps in his crib every night for about 11-12 hours and takes 1 sometimes 2 naps during the day.

  • He is becoming very independent and wants to do everything himself.

  • He loves the kitty cat. He is constantly chasing after her outside and will go up to the window inside and call for her. It is so cute!

  • He is just an absolute joy! He has the best little personality and he is so funny and I can't wait to see what the next year as in store for him!

Well that is all I have for today. My next post will have to be about Drew since this one was all about Brady!

A Little 'Bout Us

I am sure that anyone who is actually reading this is probably family and knows everything about us but just in case there is someone out there who doesn't know us here is a little about us.
Andy and I met in 2001 when I was 17 and he was 20. We got engaged in September 2004 and then we got married April 16, 2005. Two months after we were married we got a little suprise....I was pregnant! We were totally in shock but were very excited. On February 9, 2006 our first son Drew was born. He was the most beautiful baby and was so spoiled! When Drew was about 20 months old we decided to start trying for number 2. After just 2 months we were pregnant again. We thought it was a little girl this time but were suprised to find out we were having another little boy. Brady arrived on August 22, 2008 and just completed our family. He is the sweetest, happiest baby I have ever seen. In January 2009 I decided to quit my job with the state to stay home full time with the boys. I have to say that was the best decision we ever made. I love getting to play with them during the day and getting to see them learn new things, instead of just hearing about what they did at daycare. That's just a little about us and I hope to keep this blog updated with new things that are going on with our family.

It's About Time

I am finally starting a blog. I have been wanting to start one for awhile now but just never did. I am hoping that this will be a good way for friends and family to keep up with what the boys are doing as well as being a scrapbook so I can remember all the things they did. That's about all I have for now. Hopefully future posts will be a little more interesting!
