August 22nd was Brady's first birthday. I can't believe a year has already gone by. He is getting too big too fast. We had him a party at the house and it went really well. The weather was beautiful so all of the bigger kids got to play outside in the water. Brady really enjoyed digging into his cake and he even managed to cram some of the icing up his nose! He was so cute! He also really enjoyed opening presents. His favorite toy had to be his John Deere ride on toy that he got from all the Bains, Spiveys and Barretts. A big thanks to everyone who came to the party and helped to celebrate Brady's first year.
Last Wednesday Brady woke up with a fever of 103. So off to the Dr. we went. There is so much stuff going around right now and I was just praying that he didn't have the flu. Well his flu test came back negative but his pediatrician still thought he had the classic flu symptoms. So she gave us a prescription for Tamiflu. But thank goodness we never needed it because the next day his fever was gone and he was back to normal. We are thinking he may of just had a little fever virus. While we were there she went ahead and did his one year check-up. (except for shots, he couldn't get those since he was running fever) He is still a big boy! He now weighs 23 lbs (50-65th percentile) and is 31.75 inches tall (90th percentile).
Here are some things Brady is doing now.
- He is walking, better yet, running! He started walking right before he was 11 months and now he can get any where he wants to go.
- He says Mama, Dada, Bye (and waves), calls for the kitty, says hey (or something similar), dances, imitates singing, plays peek-a-boo and babbles all the time.
- He is drinking whole milk now and only eats table foods. His favorites are strawberries, bananas, yogurt, cheese, potatoes, sweet peas and he LOVES Nilla Wafers!
- He is no longer breastfeeding. I weaned him at about 11 months and he has done very well with whole milk.
- He loves to push his trucks on the floor and make "truck sounds"
- He sleeps in his crib every night for about 11-12 hours and takes 1 sometimes 2 naps during the day.
- He is becoming very independent and wants to do everything himself.
- He loves the kitty cat. He is constantly chasing after her outside and will go up to the window inside and call for her. It is so cute!
- He is just an absolute joy! He has the best little personality and he is so funny and I can't wait to see what the next year as in store for him!
Well that is all I have for today. My next post will have to be about Drew since this one was all about Brady!
Happy birthday Brady! He is adorable!
